SPOTIFY / Classic Album - Breakaway, Art Garfunkel
Day 3, and all is well!
Breakaway

As I said yesterday, I wanted to get away from the type of music I'd dealt with on days one and two (The xx, and Yo La Tengo), and talking about classic albums gives me a huge opportunity to delve into my collection.
I should say one thing before I continue - I am trying hard at the moment to only select music that you can listen to yourself on SPOTIFY. For instance, you won't find me reviewing any Beatles (although I love them, being introduced to the music of them at a very early age) as there is none on the awesome music site that is SPOTIFY! As I've already mentioned, all music I review is available in the following folder:

Breakaway is quite simply beautiful. Although Garfunkel was never the prolific writer like Paul Simon, his voice more than makes up for it. It's a very romantic/poetic album - lots of lifts. If you love this album, you will find yourself singing the songs over and over again (please note, you will never hit the notes that Art can hit, but that's not the point!)
I think this album is a perfect package - kicking off with I Believe (When I Fall in Love it Will Be Forever), and ending with The Same Old Tears on a New Background. One of the definite highlights is My Little Town, sung with Simon.

I haven't given this album enough of a listen (please realise I buy tons of CDs and never listen to everything - I draw your attention back to the fact I have three iPODs!?!?) - perhaps this shuffle grab will help...
Love him or hate him, Antony has an amazing voice, and it sounds like he is trying to do a little too much with it in this song. Plus, he's doing his own backing vocals on this track too.
Feels like an awesome climax is about to come in the song, which never materialises. Not sure this one would rank alongside my favourite A&theJ track, Fistful of Love (from I am a Bird Now).
Till tomorrow, hope you're all well!
Best wishes, Menace2Music
